What is Usui Reiki? |
Usui Reiki (generally just
known as Reiki), is a safe, non-intrusive technique of hands on
healing. It treats the ‘whole’ person and can restore
balance both physically and emotionally. Usui Reiki is the oldest
and traditional version of Reiki that is taught nowadays.
No specific religious or spiritual beliefs are
required (although those you may have will be completely respected).
The only pre-requisite when receiving a Reiki healing treatment
is the desire to be healed.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) was developed
in Japan by Mikao Usui, early in the 20th century and translated, means
‘universal energy’. Eastern medicine has always recognised
and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and
is vital to well-being. It is known as ‘ki’ in Japan, ‘chi’
in China and ‘prana’ in India. Acupuncture, T’ai Chi
and Yoga are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person. Reiki
healers channel this energy through themselves to the client and it will
travels to wherever the client most needs it.

At times, both life and ill health can be very
stressful. Reiki can help us cope by encouraging relaxation and
bringing about balance to both body and mind. Following a treatment,
clients can feel deeply relaxed, which promotes a calm and peaceful
sense of well being on all levels.
Reiki energy is easily adapted to most medical
conditions and may be used safely on people of all ages, including
the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and
the elderly, in any situation. It is also ideal to use as a ‘self
healer’ on yourself. |

Being complementary, Reiki also works effectively
alongside orthodox healthcare and other natural remedies, expanding your
treatment options. |
“Thank you again for the amazing
Reiki healing session this morning.
I feel so much lighter, more positive, focused and really, really
good.” |
|
A Reiki treatment will start with a brief
discussion about a client’s specific needs and expectations. When
appropriate, the Reiki healer will start the Reiki Healing. This is carried
out with the client lying on a treatment couch, or sitting in a chair,
fully clothed and in a relaxed position. The Reiki healer gently places
their hands, non-intrusively, in a sequence of positions on, or above
the client’s body.
Most people find Reiki healing deeply relaxing
and calming. Clients may experience physical sensations such as warmth,
cold or tingling, sometimes emotional release, or maybe nothing at all.
Some clients fall asleep during a treatment. Whatever their experience,
Reiki will be travelling to wherever their body needs it.

Please note that Reiki Healing does not
take the place of conventional medicine. Always consult a GP for an acute
or infectious condition and for problems of urgent concern.
